Burleigh County Detention Center
The Burleigh County Detention Center is a 28,000 square foot tobacco free facility that was dedicated on September 2, 1992. The Detention Center is designed for a maximum capacity of 138 inmates with a current
2009 daily average of 128 inmates. The Detention Center is administered by Sheriff
Pat Heinert and employs 32 full time officers.
Visitation - Inmate visitation is held on Tuesday and Thursday (except holidays) from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. All visitors must sign in between the hours of 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm.

**Clothing left for inmates must be approved by Detention Staff**
**No items may be left for inmates who are transported in
from DOCR for court or if they have been ordered to serve their
sentence at DOCR**
The following items can be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Department counter Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Shampoo – CLEAR LIQUID IN 3 oz SEE-THROUGH BOTTLES ONLY!!
- CLEAR stick deodorant, container must be see-through (no aerosol)
- Bar Soap – new and in the box
- Hair Ties - No Metal
- Carmex/Blistex - Squeeze tube only
- Dentures and denture cream
- Eye glasses, Contacts and contact solution
- Lotion–Cornhuskers or Aloe Vera in see through 3oz or
4oz bottles (no pumps)
- Pencils/colored pencils – NO metal erasers
- Notebooks – NO SPIRAL BOUND NOTEBOOKS
- Postal mail only – NO correspondence over the counter or passing notes.
- ONE change of clothes
- Underclothes - 3 sets. Must be NEW, WHITE, and in the package. No gym shorts. Boxers must be male and female type. T-shirts must be crew neck with no pockets. NO underwire bras.
- NO cowboy hats. NO excess luggage. NO packages. NO cell phones.
- Prescription medication may be brought in 24-hours a day. If it is after hours, please use the West Doors, press the
intercom button.
